Well, here we are at the end of April and my first #Project30Days is wrapping up. It was amazing to have the support of others on twitter and witness what each participant discovered about themselves.
You can read the details about my challenge here. Did I stick with what I originally set out to do? Yes. I found out that practicing first thing in the morning is more doable for me and while I was flexible with the challenge, I ran more and I practiced more. I found success.
What I Learned:
A recurring theme that each participant seemed to experience themselves was that the commitment to something developed greater awareness and self-reflection. Adjusting to account for life is going to have to happen. This challenge helped me realize that failure doesn’t happen when you aren’t able to do something at a pre-appointed time every single day. Success happens when you remain resilient and remain consistent in spite of road blocks.
This month, my Google calendar became my best friend as I scheduled my practice sessions and runs just like I do my work schedule. Planning ahead for the week helped minimize the daily stress of figuring out when to do what. This is something I will continue to do so I at least have a broad idea of each week.
The most interesting discovery has been experiencing for myself the need for consistency to take anything in my life to the next level. I’m reevaluating how I’m practicing and how I’m running to make changes to take me to the next level. This means changing habits that used to serve me well, but integrating new ones that will provide maximum benefit.
I want to continue these challenges. We all have lots of “someday” projects we hold on to, but we never seem to start. #Project30Days is a way to try one new thing for a month and see what happens. It’s a great, short term way to enjoy the process of adding one new thing to your life.
My next project isn’t relevant to my blog, but I’ll go ahead and tell you what it is
I need more energy!!! I know that nutrition is a weak spot for me, so May’s project is going to be all about incorporating more fruits and veggies in my diet. Green smoothies and vegetarian dinners, here I come!
